My Child Should See An Orthodontist, When? Las Vegas Orthodontist
Like most parents you probably don’t think about taking your child to see an orthodontist until you have a need. However, the American Association of Orthodontist says otherwise and recommends that your child be evaluated by an Orthodontist at age of 7. YES, 7! My Child Should See An Orthodontist, When? Las Vegas Orthodontist
That does sound young but most problems develop as early as 6. I feel that by identifying the problem early, you can avoid more extensive treatment at a later age. Webster Orthodontics can catch orthodontic problems before they can cause bigger issues like:
- Speech Issues
- Crowded Teeth
- An Uncomfortable Bite
Early treatment can prevent the need for tooth extractions, it can straighten crooked teeth, guide permanent teeth into better position, and obviously correct bite problems.
This will not only lead to better overall treatment but the treatment will not be as long, complicated or expensive. Even if there seems to be nothing wrong with your child’s smile or bite, an orthodontic evaluation can frequently identify any issues that may be unnoticeable just by looking in the mouth.
How do you know if your child needs braces. I’d look for these signs:
- Did your child lose their baby teeth early or late?
- Do they have problems chewing or biting?
- Do you catch them breathing out of their mouth often?
Do they suck their thumb?
- Do they bite their check more frequent than not?
- Do their teeth meet?
- Are their jaws and teeth out of proportion?
If you’ve witnessed any of these signs than it is recommended that you come and see us right away. We at Webster Orthodontics have modern technology and we assess patients through digital x-rays of the mouth and jaw joint.
